This book drew me in quickly， making it difficult to put it down。 Although you know some of the pieces of the puzzle very early in the book， it was fun to put those pieces together and to realize that while I had some of the puzzle figured out， the story went deeper than that。 This was so close to being a 5-star book for me。 The main reason it wasn't was that there were too many far-fetched parts of the story。 My biggest issue was that Jake's the most wanted man in Austin， but he's still able to This book drew me in quickly， making it difficult to put it down。 Although you know some of the pieces of the puzzle very early in the book， it was fun to put those pieces together and to realize that while I had some of the puzzle figured out， the story went deeper than that。 This was so close to being a 5-star book for me。 The main reason it wasn't was that there were too many far-fetched parts of the story。 My biggest issue was that Jake's the most wanted man in Austin， but he's still able to escape the cops， and avoid being killed when someone really wants him dead。This book does contain references to murder and people having affairs。 Fortunately， the author leaves that to the reader's imagination。 You don't get the gruesome details of the murders and there are no sex scenes。 There is some swearing， but I think it's only the d-word and the h-word。 Overall， this is a book that I'd recommend。 。。。more

Fast paced thriller that was harder to put down than I expected。 Jake’s life is in a hard season。 After losing his wife in a hit and run， then battling a messy custody battle with his wife’s rich family his daughter is kidnapped and his niece is murdered。 What follows is a father’s desperate search for his daughter while also being pursued by the FBI and assassin （wait what？！）。Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for this ARC。

Wow！ This was a thrill ride of a book！ It starts out with a bang and the excitement doesn’t stop。 I really enjoy reading books where a “normal” person has their life up-ended and chaos ensues。 I am happy that the author has several more books that I can read。 Do not miss All He Has Left by Chad Zunker。 Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book。 All opinions are my own。

I usually tend to lower my expectations for family drama novels as in the majority of cases they all seem a little extra in trying to go above and beyond being just family drama novels。 So I prepared myself for the same with "All he has left" by Chad Zunker。 However， I was pleasantly surprised and I'm glad for that。The description gives most of the plot out right away， so for me it wasn't about the mystery solving （you will most likely be blaming the right person from the very beginning）。 Powerf I usually tend to lower my expectations for family drama novels as in the majority of cases they all seem a little extra in trying to go above and beyond being just family drama novels。 So I prepared myself for the same with "All he has left" by Chad Zunker。 However， I was pleasantly surprised and I'm glad for that。The description gives most of the plot out right away， so for me it wasn't about the mystery solving （you will most likely be blaming the right person from the very beginning）。 Powerful and wealthy family on one side， grieving football coach on the other side and then there's suddenly a third side - a kidnapped child。 Still recovering from his wife's death， Jake Slater is now put in the middle of another tragedy as the whole world （meaning his in-laws， police， FBI and media） accuses him of a brutal murder and nobidy seems to be willing to help him with getting his kidnapped daughter back， so he has to find everything out all alone。It's quite a fast-paced but well-written story， while reading you feel like each scene is really needed to be in its place to form the whole picture and that's what I especially liked about this book。 One more thing that I really liked is actually the main character。 Jake is not a superhero who does everything right， he makes his own mistakes， makes wrong choices and sometimes has to deal with pretty upsetting consequences， but his thoughts can awaken some feelings inside of a reader and that's， I think， is the best a characted and a book can do （Dani， a FBI agent， is a little questionable for me from this perspective though， but that's a whole different story， I'm a bit sensitive to major female charactes in such novels）。All in all， I'd say that this book is a good choice to spend a couple of evenings with when you know what to expect。 It may not be the most thrilling and breathtaking/heartwrenching novel you'll ever read but it's definitely a nice example of a family secret revealing detective story to consider reading when you're stuck with your tbr。 。。。more
